CS2 Knives Ranked by What You Actually Get

Knife choice is mostly personal, but not entirely. Animation length, silhouette in first person and how the model carries a finish all vary a lot between models. Here is how they actually compare when you own one.

The classics

• Karambit — the most recognisable knife in the game. Curved blade, dramatic inspect animation, and it carries patterned finishes better than almost anything else. Priced accordingly.
• Butterfly Knife — the longest and most theatrical animation. Large visible blade area, which makes Fade and Doppler finishes shine. The other price leader.
• M9 Bayonet — long blade, aggressive shape, strong middle ground between the Karambit’s flash and the Bayonet’s restraint.
• Bayonet — the original. Clean, military, understated. Cheaper than the M9 for a very similar look.

The value picks

• Flip Knife — compact, quick animation, consistently one of the cheapest ways into a good Doppler.
• Gut Knife — wide blade shows patterns well, and it is usually the cheapest knife in any given finish.
• Falchion Knife — distinctive curved shape, low price, underrated in Marble Fade.
• Huntsman Knife — plain but solid, and one of the best value routes to Crimson Web.
• Shadow Daggers — dual blades, unusual silhouette, almost always the entry price point.

The modern additions

• Skeleton Knife — skeletonised handle, very strong Fade and Case Hardened appearance.
• Nomad, Survival, Paracord Knife — the rugged set. Large flat surfaces, so wear and pattern both show clearly.
• Kukri Knife — the newest addition, heavy forward-curved blade with a lot of visible metal.
• Talon Knife — a Karambit variant with a chunkier profile, priced just under it.
• Stiletto Knife — slim, elegant, excellent in Doppler.
• Ursus Knife — clean and straightforward, good value in Fade.
• Navaja Knife — smallest visible blade, which is why it is the cheapest and why patterns matter least on it.
• Classic Knife — the CS 1.6 model returned. Nostalgia carries a premium.
• Bowie Knife — heavy blade, big flat face, very good for Case Hardened.

How to choose

Decide finish first if you care about pattern — Fade, Doppler and Case Hardened look dramatically different across models. Decide model first if you care about animation, then find the best finish you can afford on it. The one thing not worth doing is buying the cheapest knife in a finish you do not like; you will look at it thousands of times.
