Why We Ask for Your Steam Account Only at Checkout
You can browse the entire VortexSkins catalogue, filter by float, compare items and read every specification without signing in to anything. The Steam side only comes up when there is an item to deliver.
What we need
Your Steam identity, so the trade offer goes to the right inventory. That is it.
What we never need
- Your Steam password.
- Your authenticator codes or recovery code.
- Access to your account.
- Items sent to us first for any reason.
If anyone asks for any of these while claiming to be us, they are not us. We have no process that requires them, and no legitimate store does.
Why we do not ask earlier
Two reasons. Practically, browsing does not need an identity, and asking for one up front is friction with no benefit. In terms of data protection, the less we hold and the later we hold it, the smaller the exposure — which is the same principle that governs the rest of our privacy policy.
What happens after payment
- Payment clears.
- We send a Steam trade offer to the account on your order.
- You check the offer contains exactly the item you bought.
- You accept, and it appears in your inventory.
Check the item name, exterior and float in the offer before accepting. If anything does not match your order, decline it and contact us.
If the account details were wrong
Tell us before the offer is accepted and we will correct it. Once an item has been delivered to the account you specified, it has been delivered — that case is covered in our refund policy, and it is the one delivery problem we cannot undo.
Your side of it
Have the mobile authenticator enabled for at least seven days, keep your inventory public, and confirm trades on your phone rather than accepting blindly. Those three habits make the delivery boring, which is exactly what you want it to be.
